Mitsubishi Eclipse, 1995

The Mitsubishi Eclipse was a sports compact car produced by Mitsubishi in Motors between 1989 to 2011. The car is all-wheel drive system that came with a 2.0 L 210 hp, 4G63T I4 engine situated in the front of the car, with a 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual transmission.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse, second generation was redesigned in 1994 to appeal to a broader market. In 1996, a convertible model named the Eclipse Spyder, was introduced in the GS and the GS-T model.

Problems

On 1998, Mitsubishi issued a recall of all 1990-1998  GSX models due to insufficient lubrication. The condition could cause a loss of vehicle control increasing the risk of a crash.

Safety

All 2G Eclipses came standard with driver and front-passenger air bags, side-guard door beams, front and rear body structure crumple zones, 5 mph energy absorbing bumpers, safety-cage body construction, 4- wheel disc brakes, three-point ALR lap and shoulder safety belts and height adjustable front shoulder belts.

Production

Mitsubishi produced four generations of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, the first generation was produced from 1990-1994, the second generation was produced from 1995-1999, the third from 2000-2005 and the fourth generation was produced from 2006-2012.
Production of the car has been discontinued ever since 2012, but they did bring back the name of the car, The Eclipse, in an SUV form and they have received massive criticism for doing so.
